What You Will Gain
China’s fast growth and its integration into the world economy create opportunities for international business but foreign companies also face the challenge of adjusting their way of doing business in China. To thrive in doing business in China, understanding the changing and complex market environment, the country’s policy making as well as Chinese language and culture is crucial. This program is designed to provide students with a multi-dimensional understanding of China’s business.

This well-tailored, multi -disciplinary program focuses on all specific areas relevant to doing business in China. With relevant theories and up-to-date practical applications, the program aims to equip students with systematic knowledge of business practices and the ability to analyze changes in government policies and regulations that affect business operations in China.

Special Features
The program is offered by the faculties of School of Economics, School of Foreign Languages, and College of International Exchange at Shanghai University. It covers the economic, social, legal, cultural, political, management and financial aspects of China. The curriculum also includes Chinese language, Chinese culture and cross-culture studies for international students.

Company Visits
DBIC program students will acquire valuable insights of the regional business environment and practices through a customized selection of company visits. Our company partners include such renowned global players as Fortune Global 500 and China's most competitive iron and steel enterprise, Baosteel Group Corporation; Coca Cola, global leader in the fast-moving consumer goods industry; Volkswagen Group China, the largest, earliest, and the most successful joint venture in China's automotive industry and some local companies.

Internship Opportunities
DBIC program students can apply to do overseas students’ internship when or after the program, in order to obtain deeper understanding of Chinese market and how to do business in China. We can help introduce internship companies, assist in internship visa application and issue internship credits.

Buddy Support
DBIC program is equipped with Chinese buddies (current SHU student volunteers), who will work as helping hands, good friends and supportive colleagues for the program students. You can sign up to be matched with a Chinese buddy when you apply for the program. There will be Chinese buddy contact you before you come, help you adjust more quickly to your new academic and cultural environment when you arrive and work with you through the program. Fun events will be organized for students throughout the program.

Applicants can choose minimum 4 courses for 20 credits, up to 10 courses for 50 credits for one DBIC program session.
